Isoil is a specialist magnetic flow meter manufacturer with a significant foot print in water distribution and general industry. Isoil battery powered mag meters are widely used in the water industry in South Africa and 43 other countries throughout the world.

What is AMR?

Traditionally water is metered by mechanical meters because power is not available. “Automatic Meter Reading” - AMR uses isoil magnetic flow meters, or “Smart” loggers connected to mechanical meters, which send flow trends and flow totals to the user’s computer without manual intervention.

With AMR flow information is logged and sent by GPRS to a Scada system which provides a whole array of additional information such as flow trends, water loss reports, water balance reports and reservoir level monitoring.

The WaMSS Scada is a simple to use tool for logging, planning and implementation. It enables continual performance monitoring and trending and automatically compiles reports of key performance parameters.

N&Z’s WaMSS system produces Water Balance Diagrams based on IWA guidelines. Actual metered flows are sent from our battery powered mag meters, or from existing mechanical meters with GPRS or satellite loggers.

Reservoir level measurement and management is an essential part of reliable water delivery to usersA
“Having water in the reservoir is like having money in the bank” - But equally an over flowing reservoir is a waste of money! The most reliable way to measure water level is a pressure sensor connected to a pressure tapping on the bottom of the tank, or submerged in the water.

 

Check or verify flow meters using flow loggers and clamp-on flow meters
Water bills from utilities can be high or erratic due to a faulty meter, human error or estimates.

Meter Checking Services
We check your installed flow meter with our portable ultrasonic clamp-on flow meter. Both flow meters run simultaneously over a period and the totalizers are compared. This will reveal if the installed meter is under-reading or over-reading.

Don’t Give Water Away For Free
An existing mechanical meter was integrated into the WaMSS by connecting an Isoil GPRS logger. Every morning the Water Manager observed the normal day/night flow pattern. Things ran smoothly until one Wednesday morning when he saw the flow rate collapse to zero and stay there. Line pressure continued its normal trend.

Good Water Management Saves R3.3 million a Year
An Isoil battery powered mag flow meter with built-in logging was installed in July ’15 and leak detection/repair and rationalization programs were set in motion.Rationalization and repairs were completed on 7 August.

Insertion Magnetic Flow Meters are particularly useful where:

• You cannot shut down the line to install a full bore meter; OR
• A lesser accuracy (typically +2%) will do OR
  
• You need a low cost meter especially on a large pipe line.
  
• The Isoil insertion meter is fully matched to the Isoil battery powered converter giving a hot-tap installation with flow, pressure, level and Cathodic Potential data by telemetry to the WaMSS Scada.
